Job Description
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Directs multiple production phases within a specific project of the shipyard. Ensures production schedules are met. Performs under the general direction of the Project Manager, Facility Manager and/or VP of Production.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:  The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.
  • Ensures that all safety programs, policies, and procedures followed.  Assists foremen in conducting safety meetings.
  • Reviews production drawings and determines production requirements, equipment and procedures.  
  • Coordinates work assignments and instruction of employees with Department Heads to ensure proper, efficient work procedures.  
  • Monitors production daily and requisitions additional material, equipment and manpower as required.  
  • Coordinates with quality control managers to ensure product compliance with Company standards and specifications.    
  • Studying specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction. 
  • Reviews production drawings and determines production requirements, equipment and procedures.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of manufacturing operations as related to products and projects and applicable regulatory requirements and practices.  Ability to analyze and interpret blueprints and production drawings.  Ability to plan cost effective work procedures compatible with quality requirements.  Ability to effectively communicate, instruct, build and direct a production team.
DESIRABLE EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
High school diploma or GED, supplemented by course work in production management, industrial technology or related area, or equivalent job training/experience.  Extensive experience in operations and supervision.
