Position Overview

TheCLSGolf Course Technicianis responsible for the maintenance, care, and enhancement of golf course turf and grounds, setting up the course, and working with various tools and equipment to ensure grounds are well-maintained and visually appealing. This is a seasonal position, depending on the regional location.

Job Duties
  • Operate power mowers, edgers, and string trimmers to mow, edge, and trim golf course grounds.*
  • Utilize hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or backpack blowers.*
  • Operate, clean, inspect, and maintain various vehicles or powered equipment,such as mowers, tractors, chainsaws, edgers, trimmers, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws.*
  • Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, or shrubs and apply mulch using gardening tools. *
  • Care for new and established turf by grading, mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, thatch removing, and trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.*
  • Adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and work procedures, including the proper use of safety equipment and attire.*
  • Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges from the ground, using shears, pruners, or chainsaws.
  • Water turf, trees, or plants using irrigation systems, hoses, or watering cans.
  • Set up golf courses.*
  • Change cups and tees on golf courses.*

Job Duties Continued
  • Rake bunkers.
  • Inspect designated areas for mowing.
  • Follow planned landscaping designs for sod placement, grass seeding, or flower and foliage planting.
  • Trim or deadhead flowers and maintain flower beds.
  • Perform job site cleanup.
  • Complete any required paperwork.
  • Address and repair minor irrigation leaks.
  • Report timely and accurately to direct supervisor.*
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and work rules.
Qualifications
  • Required: Ability to complete required safety courses upon hire.
  • Required: Ability to complete Davey Carer Development Program (CDP) books.
  • Required: Ability to operate power equipment
  • Preferred: One year of experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance.
  • Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Valid Driver's License.
  • Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish.
  • In some cases, the government clients Davey Tree Expert Company contracts with conduct their own background check. Results of this background check may affect the potential for hire.
