Job Title: IaaS Architect

Required Certification(s):
* DoD 8570 compliance at the IAT Level III within 6 months of hire, IAT level II at time of hire.

SUMMARY
The Program Management Office (PMO) at AFLCMC/Detachment 12 is pursuing a modernization effort which seeks to leverage the advantages of cloud computing, Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and adoption of a Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline in order to get capability out to the field more quickly under Global Application Delivery Network (GADN). The KR Infrastructure Team develops, maintains, and implements complex, highly accessible secure infrastructure environments over multiple networks and classification levels. The KR Infrastructure Team will develop system architectures that act as, and support, the entire KR ecosystem, providing infrastructure services for all services and applications residing on the KR platforms.
Will use creative problem solving to design and implement Cross Domain IaaS Solutions that are fast, reliable and secure. These efforts shall include but are not limited to: hybrid cloud capabilities in both traditional cloud offerings and on-premise hybrid infrastructure, ensuring compatibility and seamless integration of platforms and services, migration to modern hybrid offerings from legacy systems, migration to cloud capabilities and services while ensuring platform availability.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Possess extensive experience as an engineer working in the cloud computing field that includes on-premise transition to cloud, hybrid cloud, and commercial cloud management. A mid to senior-level engineer capable of mentoring junior team members. Able to create, understand, and modify design diagrams of infrastructure service capabilities based on changing requirements. Able to convert user requirements into technical solutions and recommendations. Able to assist in the design of Kubernetes-based hosting infrastructure. Able to maintain currency on new and upcoming hybrid cloud-based technologies and service offerings, to merge into or replace existing services to meet ever-changing requirements. Able to provision, manage, and secure cloud infrastructure with expertise through technologies such as IaC, auto-scaling resource services, zero trust architecture, backup strategies, and hybrid cloud to on-premise native services. Able to assist in design and implementation of reliable, highly available, and secure infrastructure systems and services. Able to ensure Infrastructure Engineers follow designed implementations of systems using automation and IaC to ensure secure repeatable builds. Possess effective communication skills to interact with various stakeholders internal and external to the organization. Able to brief highly technical concepts and operations to teams of limited technical expertise and also to teams of highly specialized
* Infrastructure personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Certifications
* DoD 8570 compliance at the IAT Level III within 6 months of hire, IAT level II at time of hire.

Education, Background, and Years of Experience
* Five-plus years of demonstrated experience working as an engineer leveraging large-scale hybrid cloud infrastructure as their primary application platform.
* Resume demonstrates experience with agile and lean software development practices, and supporting infrastructure used for hosting container-based services.
* Resume demonstrates deep understanding of modern security best practices for cloud infrastructure and networks.
* Three-plus years of demonstrated experience building declarative infrastructure using modern IaC techniques.
* Resume demonstrates experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, JSON, and Python).
* Resume has at least one or more examples of successfully transforming large-scale software, data center, and/or on-premises infrastructure programs to a containerized cloud-native architecture.
* Industry recognized certification in technologies such as Security, Cloud Computing, On-premises computing, Linux, VMware, Windows, etc.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills
* Resume demonstrates experience with agile and lean software development practices, and supporting infrastructure used for hosting container-based services.
* Resume demonstrates deep understanding of modern security best practices for cloud infrastructure and networks.
* Three-plus years of demonstrated experience building declarative infrastructure using modern IaC techniques.
* Resume demonstrates experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, JSON, and Python).
* Resume has at least one or more examples of successfully transforming large-scale software, data center, and/or on-premises infrastructure programs to a containerized cloud-native architecture.
* Industry recognized certification in technologies such as Security, Cloud Computing, On-premises computing, Linux, VMware, Windows, etc.

Preferred Skills
* At least 5 years of experience working with multiple Cloud and On-Premise infrastructure environment types such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, VMware, Openshift, Linux and Windows-based environments.
* At least 5 years of experience building, maintaining, securing, and/or integrating systems and services for DoD Networks to include NIPR/SIPR/Jwics/Coalition.
* Demonstrated experience with security best practices and implementation on large-scale infrastructure projects.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environmental Conditions
* Contractor site with 0%-10% travel possible. Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Strength Demands
* Sedentary - 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles. Some occasional walking or standing may be required. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
